HanWay's PALERMO SHOOTING bought by AX1

AX1 Films has bought all UK rights to Wim Wenders's Cannes Competition entry PALERMO SHOOTING from HanWay Films. The film has also been pre-sold in France, Germany and Italy.

AX1 already owns a significant proportion of the director's previous work, including all his early films, and AX1's Director of Acquisitions, Rocio Freire-Bernat, commented:

We are delighted with this acquisition, which represents a logical extension of our long term objective of developing a library of high quality films from both emerging and established filmmakers, and especially pleased to be continuing our association with Wim Wenders, a filmmaker we admire greatly.

PALERMO SHOOTING is Wenders's first feature film for 15 years to be shot in Germany and Europe, and the first time that he has filmed in his home town of Dusseldorf.

Campino, the lead singer of the German punk band Die Toten Hosen, stars as world famous photographer Finn. When his life spins out of control, Finn decides to leave everything behind and set off across Europe in search of a new life. His journey takes him from Dusseldorf to Palermo. Settling in Sicily, he sets about beginning a new life and a grand love affair, but finds himself persecuted by a mysterious hit man who's after him with a Vengeance...

The cast also includes Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Dennis Hopper, Milla Jovovich, Patti Smith and Lou Reed.

The film is produced by Wenders and Gian-Piero Ringel for Neue Road Movies in collaboration with broadcasters ZDF and Arte, and Pictorion Das Werk with backing from Filmstiftung NRW, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Province of Palermo (AAPIT).
